Neurophysiological biomarkers using transcranial magnetic stimulation in Alzheimer’s disease and mild cognitive impairment: A systematic review and meta-analysis

چکیده

Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive neurophysiological tool that enables the investigation of cortical excitability in human brain. Paired-pulse TMS paradigms include short- and long-interval intracortical inhibition (SICI/LICI), facilitation (ICF), short-latency afferent (SAI), which can assess functions GABAergic, glutamatergic, cholinergic neural circuits, respectively. We conducted first systematic review meta-analysis to compare these indices among patients with AD, mild cognitive impairment (MCI), healthy controls (HC). Our meta-analyses indicated RMT, SAI, SICI, LICI were significantly lower while ICF did not show difference AD compared HC. In MCI, RMT SAI than conclusion, motor was increased, function decreased MCI comparison HC had GABAergic glutamatergic results warrant further studies differentiate HC, employing multimodal neurophysiology.

Identification of mild cognitive impairment disease using brain functional connectivity and graph analysis in fMRI data

Background: Early diagnosis of patients in the early stages of Alzheimer's, known as mild cognitive impairment, is of great importance in the treatment of this disease. If a patient can be diagnosed at this stage, it is possible to treat or delay Alzheimer's disease. Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) is very common in the process of diagnosing Alzheimer's disease. In th...

Repeated Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation and Nursing Care: A Review

Repeated Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (RTMS) therapy is one of the modern treatment methods for various neurological and psychiatric diseases. With the clinical advancement of new therapies, there is a need to increase nursing knowledge, various practical skills, and new ways of organizing care. This study aims to review the rTMS, and the role of psychiatric nurses before, during and after...

Cognitive impairment in depression: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

BACKGROUND This review aimed to address the question of whether cognitive impairment should be considered a core feature of depression that may be a valuable target for treatment. METHOD We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of cognitive function, assessed with a single neuropsychological test battery, the Cambridge Neuropsychological Test Automated Battery (CANTAB), in patients ...

Modifiable predictors of dementia in mild cognitive impairment: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

OBJECTIVE Public health campaigns encouraging early help seeking have increased rates of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) diagnosis in Western countries, but we know little about how to treat or predict dementia outcomes in persons with the condition. METHOD The authors searched electronic databases and references for longitudinal studies reporting potentially modifiable risk factors for incid...

Voxel-based morphometry in Alzheimers disease and mild cognitive impairment: Systematic review of studies addressing the frontal lobe

Voxel-based morphometry (VBM) is a useful approach for investigating neurostructural brain changes in dementia. We systematically reviewed VBM studies of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and mild cognitive impairment (MCI), specifically focusing on grey matter (GM) atrophy in the frontal lobe. Methods Two searches were performed on the Pubmed database. A set of exclusion criteria was applied to ensur...
